Velveteen Base Cloth

Velveteen Base Cloth

I. Product Overview

Velveteen base cloth is the underlying structure of velveteen fabrics. It is mostly made of cotton or cotton blends through weaving. As the foundation for velveteen's pile formation, it has a dense texture, providing stable support for the subsequent pile - raising process and directly affecting the texture and durability of the finished velveteen.

II. Key Features

  • Stable structure: The warp and weft yarns are tightly interwoven with a flat weave, ensuring that the pile is even and not easy to fall off after pile - raising.
  • Strong wear resistance: The base cloth has high strength, can withstand repeated friction, and prolongs the service life of the finished velveteen.
  • Good breathability: The cotton or blended material retains a certain degree of breathability, improving comfort when worn or used.

III. Common Specifications

  • Raw materials: Pure cotton (widely used), cotton - polyester blends (such as 80% cotton + 20% polyester).
  • Yarn count: The warp yarn is usually 21S - 40S, and the weft yarn is slightly thicker (such as 16S - 32S) to balance strength and pile - raising effect.
  • Density: The warp density is 60 - 100 threads per inch, and the weft density is 40 - 80 threads per inch, which is adjusted according to the thickness of the finished product.
  • Width: The conventional width is 145 - 150cm, which can be customized on demand.

IV. Typical Applications

It is mainly used in the production of velveteen fabrics, and applied in fields such as clothing (coats, trousers), home decoration (sofa covers, curtains), and industrial wiping cloths.
