Carbon Black

Carbon Black

I. Product Overview

Carbon black is an amorphous carbon in the form of black powder. It is produced by incomplete combustion or thermal cracking of hydrocarbons, with high tinting strength and conductivity. Widely used in rubber, plastics, inks and other fields, it functions as a reinforcing agent, colorant and conductive material.

II. Key Features

  • Strong tinting strength: High blackness and excellent hiding power, stably imparting black color to products.
  • Reinforcing performance: Enhances wear resistance and tensile strength of rubber products (e.g., tire treads).
  • Adjustable conductivity: Some types have conductive properties, applicable to antistatic materials.

III. Common Specifications

  • Particle size: 10-50nm; specific surface area: 10-1500m²/g; oil absorption: 20-200ml/100g.
  • Purity: Carbon content ≥95%; ash content ≤1.0%; moisture ≤1.5%.
  • Types: Rubber-grade (high wear resistance, semi-reinforcing type), pigment-grade (high blackness type), etc.

IV. Typical Applications

Reinforcement of tire rubber, black coloring of plastics, ink tinting, conductive plastics, coating coloring.
